Full Moon in Pisces

A graphic on a silver background. Gold line art of two fish in the center of the graphic is surrounded by black rays. Below this, is the text, in black: "Full Moon in Pisces."

The Full Moon in Pisces occurs on Thursday, August 27, at 9:18 p.m. (PDT)/Friday, August 28, at 12:18 a.m. (EDT).  It is also a lunar eclipse that will be visible in the Americas, especially the eastern U.S., and all of South America.   It will  be partially visible in parts of Europe and the African continent, as well as the western U.S..

The eclipse falls with the Sun in Virgo opposed to the Moon in Pisces.   The Sun and Moon are at 4 degrees of their respective signs.  The planets of the Barbault Basket configuration were all at 4 degrees in July, so this eclipse may reveal more clues as to what this configuration means to us.  Although Jupiter and Saturn have moved on from where they were in July, they are in a close trine.  These two planets describe how we interact with the society we live in, as well as the gifts and challenges of the times.  Trines are free-flowing and supportive, so this could be a good time to review any intentions made in July.

The Sun is conjunct Mercury in Virgo at the time of the eclipse.  Since it is within 17 minutes of arc to the Sun, it is considered a cazimi, which means “in the heart of the Sun”.  Mercury is in council with the Sun and new insights and illuminations may emerge.  In mythology, Mercury is the only one of the gods who can travel in all three worlds (upper world, middle world, underworld), and it will be interesting to see what communications and news emerge.

Eclipses tend to act as accelerators of energy.  They also reveal the turning of events. This is especially true with this eclipse as the luminaries are squared by Uranus in Gemini.  Uranus can bring abrupt change, which can be unsettling.  Yet, it can also bring you to where you need to be.  Perhaps a project you’ve been working on is just not turning out as you imagined.  For now, you can put it aside, then see how the energy settles after the eclipse.  Same thing with attitudes or mindsets you feel no longer serve you.  Just notice them for now.

Full Moon in Pisces feels deeply.  Allow yourself enough quiet time, and take care of yourself.  Pay attention to your emotions, as they are messengers. Your psychic sensitivity may be heightened too.  Listen to your intuition and your dreams.  You may want to write about the emotions and insights in your journal, or talk with a good friend or therapist if you feel overwhelmed.

Emotions are riding high right now, so please be gentle with yourself.  Eclipse energies begin to wane after the eclipse (usually 1-3 days); this too shall pass.
