This month’s New Moon occurs on Tuesday, July 14th, at 2:43 a.m. (PDT)/5:43 a.m. (EDT). Sun and Moon in Cancer highlight our home and family. The Moon rules the sign Cancer; thus, Cancer is associated with Moon-like qualities of nurturing, caregiving, and working to keep the home a safe place. Cancer is also an emotional sign, so feelings will be prominent. In close conjunction to the luminaries is Mercury, which is retrograde. This is a time to pause before taking action. Instead, take the time to sit with your feelings, investigate where they might be coming from, journal or talk with a close friend. The luminaries are also square Saturn, which will help us see the reality of our current situation.
The long-awaited Barbault Basket planetary configuration perfects on Monday, July 20th. Three of the four planets involved (Uranus, Neptune and Pluto) are already in place at 4 degrees of their corresponding signs (Gemini, Aries, Aquarius). Jupiter is at 3 degrees Leo and will be in the 4th degree of that sign by July 20th. There are lots of discussions going on about the potential meanings of this configuration. Many astrologers agree that it means a time of great change. Just looking at recent technological advances and their ensuing demands on our resources, we can see that changes are already here. However, while the planets show us the dynamics in play, it is up to us to make the choice of how we work with them. For each of us, this means getting grounded and bringing our individual gifts and strengths to the table. We can collaborate with others and work on making changes for a more sustainable future for all beings. The planets Uranus (adaptability to change) and Neptune (ability to dream and vision) are supportive of coming up with new approaches to old problems.
The times we are in are stressful and confusing, so this New Moon encourages us to rest and take care of ourselves and loved ones. We will get through this.
